WE WELCOME YOUR GIFTS!picture-of-gift

Thank you for thinking of the Bellwood Public Library. We welcome monetary gifts to purchase library materials and also accept donated used books and non-book materials (such as DVDs) in good condition. Our professional staff evaluates gifts using the same criteria they use for purchased materials.

Donations can be brought to the Circulation Desk during hours the library is open.  If you have a large donation (more than one bag or box of books), please call (708)547-7393 x 12 before coming to arrange a drop-off time.  Upon request, the Library will be happy to provide written acknowledgement of your gift, but the staff does not appraise or provide valuations of gifts for tax deduction or other purposes. The establishment of the gift's value is the responsibility of the donor.

Once materials are accepted they become the property of the Bellwood Public Library and are subject to applicable Library policies. We prefer to receive current materials in very good condition. New bestsellers and children's books are especially useful.

We reserve the right to 1) add the donated materials to the collection, 2) give them to Friends of Bellwood Library for sale, or 3) refer them to other book donation programs.  Professional librarians add or withdraw materials based on the Materials Selection Policy.  The Library does not treat donated materials separately; the materials accepted will be shelved in the appropriate general collections.

The Friends of Bellwood Library run a year-round book sale in the First Floor Lobby.  Shop our shelves frequently, since we're restocking all the time.  You'll find a wide selection of books at low prices at the sale shelves!

Here’s how you can check out a Museum Adventure Pass at Bellwood Library with your Bellwood Library card:

Visit Bellwood library to find out current pass availability. Library staff will be able to tell you what is available.

Check out a Museum Adventure Pass using your library card at your home library. Libraries have a limited number of passes for each participating organization, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Passes cannot be reserved or checked out online or on the phone.

One Museum Adventure Pass may be checked out per person, per loan period. The loan period is SEVEN DAYS, and will expire after the date printed on the pass.

Admission offers vary per museum. For some, two or four people may be admitted free per pass, or by carload. If admission normally is free, another special discount will be offered.

Passes are for one-time use and are not transferable. Your name will be printed on the pass, and you may be asked to show identification at the museum. The museum will collect the pass when you visit.
