Now Hiring:      |  YOUTH SERVICES LIBRARIAN  | 



Part-time position providing library services to children birth to age 17 and their families.  We are seeking a candidate with a knowledge of and enthusiasm for children’s literature, familiarity with current technology, and ability to create and implement programs and perform outreach independently.

Professional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Collection development of Youth Services collection
  • Planning and implementing programs to families, children and teens
  • Reference and reader’s advisory for youth, parents and teachers
  • Assists patrons with catalog, public computers and electronic resources
  • Serves from Children’s or Teen Room service desk ask needed
  • Supervises Youth Services Department in the absence of the Department Manager


  • MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited school
  • One year library experience working with youth
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be willing to work alone or as a team member
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees and community partners
  • Access to transportation

$17.00/ hour 

Schedule 20+ hrs/week, including some evenings and Saturdays

The Bellwood Public Library has two rooms available for use by the public for meetings. 

How to Reserve a Meeting Room:

  1. Read our Meeting Room Policy to learn what types of meetings can be held here.
  2. Print out our Meeting Room Application & Deposit Form
  3. Fill it out completely, including alternate dates in case your first choice is unavailable
  4. Turn in to the Bellwood Public Library Magazine Room

The Friends of Bellwood Library run a year-round book sale in the First Floor Lobby.  Shop our shelves frequently, since we're restocking all the time.  You'll find a wide selection of books at low prices at the sale shelves!

Paperback  25¢ each

Books for Kids:   20¢ each

Pay for the items at the Circulation Desk in the Lobby.
